Howdy, It's nice to have found some other folks in my home state that are also interested in the paranormal. I live in northern Weld County, and after 10 years of doing research on the internet, in books, and I'll admit some tv programs, I want to start doing some investigating of my own or with a group preferably. Now, I'm curious. As I logged on tonight, I noticed the poll about the TAPS group. I have watched that show from the begining, and except for a little drama at the start, and some more thrown in every now and then for tv, I belive that what they are doing is totally credible. Of all the shows I've seen on this subject, theirs is the only one that truely takes a scientific approach in an effort to prove or disprove the existence of ghosts. Of course this is my opinion, what's your's?

Just read all the threads that started with Donna's blog. I guess that answers my question.

I think all the paranormal shows on tv are just for entertainment. Even Ghost Hunters. Anyone can say they do science, and maybe in their off-camera, personal investigations, they do. But on that show, there is not really any scientific method going on. For instance, all their investigations begin with the assumption that ghosts exist, and then they try to fit whatever they experience to that theory. Yet, there is still no evidence of ghosts to confirm their assumption.
My favorite example was when Steve was tying to give some sage advice to one of the other new investigators:
Steve (waving around a K2 EMF meter): "What does this measure?" Investigator: "Energy" Steve: "And what are ghosts made of?" Investigattor: "Energy!" Steve: (nods wisely)

That is, I've never seen an orb photogaph I felt must be paranormal. This is along the lines of what I believe: http://www.rockymountainparanormal.com/orbarticle.htm

While I agree that what you see on TV is definitely not the whole story, and I have always taken everything I see with a grain salt, I don't think that's grounds for completly disregarding everything they do. They have said from the begining of the show, and in their "mentality" on their web page that they are out to disprove hauntings, by finding real explantions for what their clients are experiencing. I seem to recall an episode where they point blank told one of their clients that they belive over 90% of all "hauntings" can be explained with things that are not paranormal, at which point she seemed to take offense to that. I'm not going to sit here and be their lawyer in this forum, but I think some people are to quick to dismiss them just because they have a show on TV. Has anybody here actually met them or accompanied them on investigation? Don't judge either way based on what is seen on the show. I will say I wasn't impressed with their recent live show. And I totally agree with you on the orb subject.
